My 82-year-old mother was crowing about the All Black’s recent rugby victory over Australia. ‘It’s a bloody shame the Aussies got a try in the second half,’ she said. ‘But I thought New Zealand won?’ I asked. ‘Of course we won! The score was 41 to 13. It’s still a shame that they got a try.’ *A try is worth 5 points.
