I picked up my car yesterday and drove it home like a boss. I don’t own a garage so I have to park on the street behind my house. However, there were no parking spaces left so I drove to the next street over and bingo, I found a nice little space on an incline outside a block of flats. I pulled in close to the kerb, nice and tidy, and gave myself a virtual pat on the back as I walked away.

Today, I returned to the car with my friend Jason. The first thing Jason said was, ‘Isn’t this a one-way street?’ No, I assured him. We got in and as I nosed out into the street a car coming towards us flashed its lights. As I backed out, Jason helpfully pointed out the ‘One Way’ sign.
