Quote of the day: ‘Those bloody alpacas have eaten all my scarlet runners.’

Mum has discovered that the neighbour’s alpacas have stripped all the scarlet runner beans off her vines. She caught them behind her garden, sticking their tongues through the mesh of the fence to winkle out the beans. For the past couple of years she’s let the neighbour graze his three alpacas in her field. She likes the goofy things but she loves her beans.

‘I bonked the brown one on the head and told him to go away but he just ignored me,’ she said. ‘There’s not a single bean left. Bloody things.’

The neighbour is going to get a flea in his ear when he dares to return from holiday.  A very sorry affair.
